  1. What did George IV do in order to upset his father and rebel against the strict education and childhood he had to endure?
  2. Why did George IV marry Caroline of Brunswick? Do you think the marriage was happy or rather a bond out of necessity?
  3. Take a look at the caricature. What kind of picture does it convey about George IV? Can you detect any hints in it referring to his reign?
  4. Have a look at the quotations given by Queen Victoria on her son Edward VII. Do you think she had faith in the abilities of her son or did she regard him as a failure, neither worthy nor able to reign the country? How do you think her behavior is reflected in Edwards actions?
  5. Can you detect any device of Edward opposing his mother in public? If so when and why did it happen?
  6. Take a look at the caricature of Edward IV. Edward IV is said to have been married to a beautiful woman. Why do you think he longed for the company of affairs? How far might his affairs have affected the public opinion on the Royal Family? Why was he portrayed this way?
